What is SIDS?
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) "claims the life of a child every 4 hours" in the United States. In Colorado, at least one baby every week dies from SIDS.
WHAT WE DO:
The mission of The Colorado SIDS Program, Inc. is to:
- provide support and counseling to families, friends, and communities who experience or are affected by a SIDS death;
- educate first responders and other professionals who deal with SIDS deaths;
- provide education throughout Colorado about SIDS, risk reduction, and latest research;
- help fund and support SIDS research.
The Colorado SIDS Program has licensed and professionally-trained personnel who can help families navigate through the difficult period following a death. Physicians and other health care providers are also available to answer questions and interpret research findings. In addition, the Program provides statewide education addressing issues such as what SIDS is, ways to reduce a baby's risk, and bereavement support to families.
If you have questions about SIDS or want to know more about reducing your baby's risk of SIDS, please call us at 1-888-285-SIDS. Call for more information.
Online Support Group:
Join us every 4th Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. for the SIDS online support group. All parents, friends and relatives touched by a SIDS death are invited.
